Under Michigan Law, as a direct access state, we are able to perform an initial evaluation with no prescription from your physician! But this evaluation and sequential treatments must be performed within 21 days or 10 visits. Whichever of these two conditions occur first. After one of these two conditions have been met, we will need a prescription from your physician or referring provider for continued physical therapy needs. If you have an injury, pain, difficulty walking, limitations in movement, or any other concerns, you are a candidate for direct access.
This will vary depending on your current health status/ history, current functional and physical abilities, and goals for physical therapy. Dr. Nicholas Ayres will evaluate you and discuss the general timeline and expectations in order to decide with you what will be an expected timeline for visit needs.

Manual therapy is a hands-on approach to physical therapy that involves mobilizing and manipulating soft tissues and joints to reduce pain, increase range of motion, promote blood flow for tissue healing, help with lymphedema and swelling, and decrease inflammation.
Dry Needling is used to stimulate the body's natural healing processes by increasing blood flow, reducing inflammation, and promoting the release of endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving chemicals. It is done with needles, similar to acupuncture, and inserting the needle into trigger point locations on the body, and other locations that can be causing pain and dysfunction. Dry needling is usually done in conjunction with exercise prescription and manual techniques for the most optimal affect and recovery.
